Want Virus? Ask Google!
"For those in search of malicious code, the Internet is a veritable goldmine, if you know where to look. Just ask Google! In the course of a search, the engine not only indexes harmless HTML and PDF files, but also executable code that may sometimes turn out to be harmful to your system.
Though Internet security firm Websense was the first to advertise the fact that Google could be used to search the web for malware, HD Moore, he of the Metasploit Project fame, went one step further and circulated code that served this purpose. The program contains 300 and counting malware signatures that are mapped against the live samples of executable code found on the net.
What they say…
Google: We’re working to block results that lead to malicious executable code.
Websense: Google’s malware indexing may be potentially misused by virus creators and authors.
HD Moore: Hackers have no use for code
Reality is stranger than fiction.
