Don’t Hesitate to Spend on Security: Gartner
"If you are thinking of not implementing security measures to protect your data because of the huge expense involved, it may be a case of penny wise, pound foolish. Research firm Gartner has reported that the process of cleaning up, recovering your data, and compensating for the damage done after a security breach occurs, will end up costing you much more than your expenditure incurred on encryption and protection technology. Avivah Litan, analyst at Gartner, says that data encryption, host-based intrusion prevention, strong security audits, and/or host-based intrusion detection systems are absolutely necessary for the protection of customer/citizen data.
